Most of the siniwali we do in DBE is from the
scissor system

Hey Lee,
What is the scissor system you mention?

I would guess Lee is referring to gunting (or gununting), which means scissors. In Rapid Arnis it's Crossada, and you've probably seen the video of it on youtube (excuse me for not putting the link in here...). It's in Pekiti Tersia, Inosanto Kali (probably taken from PT...), and you see a variation of it in the Bakbakan/Ilustisimo Kali cuatro cantos drills.

An example, you have two sticks and someone feeds a #1, a couple of gunting counters would be:

- Step in right 45, roof block with right stick, strike the hand backhand with the left stick.

- Step outside left 45, parry the strike over to your right with your left stick, strike the hand forehand with the right stick.

The first technique would be done if you're closed, ie sticks crossed in front of you, the second if you're open, ie with sticks apart.

Mike-a is correct very much a Gunting-style, however as well as Crossada we also employ scissor system extensively in empty hand vs daga.

This uses the area in the V of the arms to trap and deflect, softer than Gunting strikes, this is a snaking system. This trapping & redirecting comes from the skills taught in Espada y Daga (San Miguel - Momoy Canete) and Doble Olisi vs LongPole or blade.

That's where we mainly use it too, but we show people you can translate it via other weapons. But this is also really to show the versitility of FMA, but the main area we use it is empty hand V's dagger.
