Hehehe.. I just finished reading the whole thing... watched the videos as well.... I enjoyed it big time. *major @$$ kissing hehe*
There's a little error on there though. On the WEKAF Northampton Open. I went to the event. (Ohhh it was a blaaassssttttt!!!!! My first experience seeing it live!!). I'd like to respectfully correct this error.... Ermar Alexander won the sayaw/forms division, along with another gold in the double stick division (can't remember which category... light heavyweight I guess, ... I wasn't paying attention... lol) - They were all great! There was even a Rapid Arnis boy who joined the sayaw/forms competition. I wasn't able to chat with him as he vanished just as I wanted to say hello. Tsk.
Met a lot of people from different systems at the event. Very very cool! There was also a kiddie category. Yeh! You should have thrown Rees and Olisi into it! Was so cute! (Yeh... tiny people bashing the sh!t out of each other was cute! hehe )
I might also be able to pop by at the Doce Pares WHQ anniversary as I'm going home this December! Need to visit my bestfriend in Cebu. Will be a blast! Wee!
Ooh.. but I'm very very VERY impressed with the newsletter. Don't think I noticed a spelling mistake!!! *cheer*.... see... my idol, Lucy is the best! *worship*.... hehe
Anyway, congrats on the first edition! Looking forward to lots lots lots more!!
Ayo ayo!

The Sayaw was not an error, Jacob won the kids Sayaw division as he is a kid and as it is a RA newsletter we only mentioned him

And the RA kid your were talking about is Jacob, he has trained with me since, oh! before he was a glint in his old mans eye
He missed the last Europeans and the RA Camp because he broke his foot (he kicked a traffic cone for some stupid reason ), he has not been able to train for this one and still he picks up 3 golds.
The funny thing was when the judges said to him his Sayaw was great but had no tricks, just showed you how much attention they were paying, because his latest trick is so subtle were he goes from normal to reverse grip, you have to see it to appreciate it. A trick Lucy taught him by the way
The problem I have found with the judging in the UK is that most of the judges have never done Sayaw , and that makes it hard to win.

Aaah.... so Jacob was his name! Lol... I was wondering why he disappeared. Or maybe it was because he changed his shirt after his turn. So I wasn't sure if it was him. Need to check the videos.
I didn't know they had a separate category for him as there were no other youngers his age in that division. Then again, he deserves it as he was the only one among the kids to make an effort to do the sayaw division. There were other kids who competed in fights, but none of them did the forms.
Yeh, I was quite fascinated by him coz he could do all those funky twirly things!! It was cool coz it looked like he was twirling a blade coz his stick was silver! I actually cheered for him. (RA support! hehe).
As I said, I didn't pay attention to the categories. lol... |

Oh and another thing that was a bit freaky.... the kids can actually hit harder than the women....
It was a great experience watching that though! Will definitely try to attend and watch more events in the future!

Oh.. and still.. even if he was thrown in with the adult division... i still think he'd come tops! He was my 2nd favourite out of the 4 (or was it 5) sayaw competitors... (bias aside... he was great with his stick!)
I think the judges meant by him not having any tricks, is by him only performing with one weapon... while the rest of the competitors had two or more. Still... he was still a LOT better than the other guys, IMO. |

No what they meant is that 90% did not have a clue what they were looking at. I know 90% of the judges. |

As everyone in RA knows Jacob I did not specify divisions and it was really just a quick footnote as the event had already passed.
