Known as the Father of the Filipino Martial arts in NZ

just thought you mayby interested in the lineage of DIAMONDBACK ESKRIMA

v 1964 to 1973 trained under his Grandfather, Maestro Alexander Henderson, in Amh Eskrima.

v 1973 trained under Master Padre Tirea in the military version of Tae Kwan Do.

v 1978 trained in Lee Gar Kung Fu under Master Phillip Lam.

v 1979 NZ Kung Fu Federation All Martial Arts Full Contact Open Championship. Placed 3rd lightweight division

v 1980 NZ Kung Fu Federation All Martial Arts Full Contact Open Championship. Placed 1st lightweight division

v 1985 to 1992 President of the NZ Eskrima, Kali, Arnis Federation,

v 1987, 1988 & 1989 NZ Eskrima Kali Arnis
Full Contact Open Stick-Fighting Championship: 1st place lightweight division 1st place open weight division, and Grand Champion.

v 1987 Invited to Philippines by the National Arnis Kali Eskrima Association of the Philippines (NARAHIL) and Doce Pares to be part of the setting up of a world championship and to train with the Filipino Grandmasters in
their own styles.

v 1987 Appointed Commissioner for NZ by NARAHIL

v
1987 Awarded an International Martial Arts Referee/Judge Certification.

v 1987 Accepted by Grandmaster Eulogio (Yoling) Canete, as the only Westerner to ever become his student.

v 1988 NZ South Island Open Karate Championship, Grand Champion,

v 1989 NZ South Island Open Karate Championship, Grand Champion

v 1989 GM Eulogio (Yoling) Canete successor GM Abner Pasa, and the founder of the Warriors Eskrima club agreed to train Maestro Henderson

v 1989 World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation, 1st World Stick-Fighting Championship. Placed
2nd welterweight division.

v 1989 Visayan Full Contact Martial Arts Federation (Filipino kickboxing) Welterweight Champion

1989 & 1991 Captain and Coach of the NZ Full Contact Stick-Fighting team.

v 1987 Founding member of the World Eskrima, Kali, Arnis Federation (WEKAF)

v (1989, NARAHIL Award of Appreciation in recognition of extreme devotion and dedication in the promotion and propagation of the Filipino Martial Arts

v 1991 Founded Diamondback Eskrima International

v 2001 Inducted into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

v 2001 Inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame.

v 2005 Awarded Master Trainer by the Australian Institute of Fitness.

v Has lectured in schools and universities, conducted seminars and workshops and public demonstrations in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Philippines, Britain, Indonesia, Japan Hong Kong and the USA

v Has trained people of all ages and gender, in groups as well as individuals including police personnel, prison guards, Maori wardens (tribal police), security officers, doormen and military personnel throughout the world. Personal trainer in Fitness.

v Has been a personal security consultant, bodyguard, cooler/doorman, full contact open martial arts champion and is one of the only Westerner to be recognized as a Master in the Philippines

v Has been a Facilitator in counseling groups in emotional intelligence called “Life Skills” helping people with many different feelings such as Anger, fear, sadness, loneliness, guilt, regret, anxiety, anguish, despair to personal growth and problem solving with two of Australia’s leading counseling experts Lee Pagana and Dot Lenthall



Because of GM Abner Pasa, Maestro Henderson had the privilege to train with some of the best Instructors and styles in the Philippines.

GM Tanny Compo, Maestro Henderson instructor in Pangamut (Filipino Boxing) gave him the nick name ‘Maldito’ which means in Spanish “The damned, someone possessed by the devil ” because of his ability and attitude when fighting.
