If you have taken part in a Black Eagle society meeting or a similar format with limited protection and rules, what did you learn from your experiences?
What worked and what did not work for you?
Basically any tips you have, lets hear about them.
For example when you are under pressure;
What guard works best for you?
What stance(s) do you favour?
What defences work best for you?
What strike or striking combinations work best for you?
Have you pulled a disarm off and by what technique?
When is kicking and punching a good idea?
What do you do to stay off the ground and do you feel comfortable if it ends up on the ground?
Do you have any failsafe techniques that you fall back on? (Or as near to as can really be possible to failsafe)
What injuries have you taken away with you as your free gift?
Feel free to add any other questions to this, if you have any.
Lots of love

From the 1 experience I have of Black Eagle, I've learnt that it's fun!!! (Might not still think that the next time I do one)
And that no matter how much detail you go into when explaining to someone who doesn't do martial arts, about what actually happens at a Black Eagle, they just don't get it!
Ciao

I absolutely love the response you get from the stick itself.
Padded sticks are awsome, but they are more clumsey than compared to a rattan.
We won't even go into the pain factor!
But all in all, using a live stick, you definately get a better feel and understanding of the mechanics of stick work.
Everything is faster. Your attacks, counters and defenses move a lot quicker.
that there be my 2 bits!

Hi Guys,
Well we just had our first Black Eagle up here in Edinburgh, not too bad a turnout ( 10 ) with most of us getting 2 fights
Hopefully everyone who took part enjoyed the day
as for tips then what I found to work is not to be rushing in as you can pick off opponents as they come to you, but there are times when you do have to go in and then its a case of getting your stick blocking correct or you are going to feel pain
But when all is said and done then it's most enjoyable taking part than not
