| my instructor say angel cabalas had about 30 death matches.what is a death match.how this subject came about. is when you ask what is eskrima about.it seems to have come about from filiopineos trying survive a violent country. |

Death Matches where few and far between, they may have been called Death Matches but that was simply because a match could result in Death, but this was a rare occurance.
All martial skills are developed from Violence and I am sure matches like these, otherwise known as chellenge mates happened in all Martial Cultures. Including the Philippines. The Filipino's in their development of their martial skills are no different to any other in that they too had challenge matches, as to how many each individual had is all a matter of verbal record.
And please can you make sure you post your questions in the relevant threads as it makes it easier for our members to find your posts and threads.  And the Administrators have enough trouble dealing with the spammers on a daily basis which gives them less time to actually post themselves. Thanks in advance
