Unfortunately, Bill has cancelled the event at Haggerston Castle.
But not to worry I myself will now be running this event and will up date you as soon as the final details have been confirmed.
The Camp is still going ahead, it will just be somewhere else.
Best regards

That's a pain as I will likely lose my deposit for accommodation (which I booked privately with the Haggerston Castle people rather than through Bill - partly with the intent of avoiding problems if a cancellation had occurred after full payment for accommodation was made - obviously this did not happen fortunately).
Will it still be a combined Rapid Arnis and Doce Pares event?

Yes William, It will.
Sorry about your deposit mate, but it was out of my hands.
I will keep you updates as things get confirmed.
Best regards

Do you have an idea where a replacement Rapid Arnis (or combined with Doce Pares) camp is likely to run? I contacted Bill Lowery and he confirmed the combined camp at Haggerston Castle is cancelled of course. The site linked above still says there is a Doce Pares course - Bill mentioned that one is still planned in the North East (my best guess is in Newcastle); but he still has to confirm with Danny Guba. So I guess it would be inadvisable to sign up for Bill's alternative course (if at all) until he has at least sorted out what is happening with Danny Guba,

By the way, do you know what Bill Lowery is doing about deposits that were paid to him? I also paid a 25 pounds training fee deposit to Bill Lowery (in addition to the deposit on accommodation that I paid directly to the Haggerston Castle people),

Well I would suggest that if you are not going and he is NOT running the original course in question. That you contact him for a full refund.
Best regards

Unfortunately, the latest news is that Bill seems to be dragging his feet a bit as far as refunding the 25 pounds training deposit is concerned. He previously offered to either refund the training deposit only or to allow the training deposit and part of the Haggerston Castle accommodation deposit to apply to his own replacement Doce Pares weekend with Danny Guba in Easter. I decided I just want the training deposit back (as I don't have time to attend the other course right now); but he seems to have stopped replying to my e-mails after saying he could send it about a month ago,

At the end of the day, he has to give it back to you, he changed the line up of his own accord so in effect he has broken the agreement and terms of the deposit with you.

Unfortunately, I did have to sue Bill Lowery to get the money in the end (around August/ September last year). I actually sued him for the training deposit (paid to him) and lost accommodation deposit (paid to Haven Holidays, I think). When it went through the small claims, Bill Lowery filled in a form for a "partial admission" to responsibility for the training deposit only, which I accepted. The "partial admission" meant he also had to pay my legal fees so far (which consisted of just the 30 pounds for starting the claim). Accepting the "partial admission" had the advantage that we didn't have to actually meeting in court with possible additional travel costs,

William Well done, it is about time people like him got his come uppance, the thing is if you ignored it, it would not go away and he would try to con other people.
Let's just say that I have since discovered that this is part of his nature, I would not trust him as far as I could kick him with a broken leg.
Well done.
Speak soon
