I'm wanting to start up training again after a break because of injury, illness and life getting in the way. There is a Karasac Kali class near me. Does anyone have any idea what it's like?

No sorry, I have heard of them but no idea of their base system?

Who is the main instructor as this may give me a guide to what background they have.

OK, I had a feeling it maybe the Inosanto / Lacoste Kali Blend. I have heard of Paul Finn has a decent reputation in this area. Go check them out and see what you think.

Hi Calvin,

The Karasac Kali bunch are based in SE London.

Paul Finn, the instructor, is an instructor under long time JKD man Ralph Jones.

I have no direct knowledge of him, but I note that he seems to be Rita Suwanda's rep in England now (she is the head of Silat Mande Muda), so he is probably worth checking out.

Hi Calvin

Bit of a late responce but i have been offline recently.
Paul is certifed under Ralph Jones, Rick Faye and Dan Inosanto in JKD & Kali.
I think in the 25+ years Ralph has been training and teaching JKD / Kali he has only made about half a dozen people Instructors under his banner. Paul is the highest instructor he has certified.

He is also certifed in the Inosanto Silat methods and as Jon said, he is also the Mande Muda rep in the UK. He has also trained heavily in Wing Chun and hold a 3rd Degree BB in Guba Doce Pares.

Paul is an excellent teacher and really knows his stuff. His classes are very relaxed but they train hard. If you have not got to his classes yet then i can only say get along there.

Cheers
Stuart
