It has come to my attention that some people seem to be under the impression for some strange reason that they can jump a grade regadless of what level they are at.
Some people when they join our clubs are in the first instance not interested in grading, so as you know we do not force this on them and only let them grade when they feel ready or show an interest in this facility. The grade jump is something that is not used very often and is only used if someone has been with us long enough to warrant it and has decided that they now wish to start grading.
So let me make it clear about grade jumping:
This is only allowed in the following circumstances:
1. If the Cheif Instructors (Pat O'Malley, Lucy O'Malley & Nigel Herterich) give their permission.
2. Students may only be allowed to jump up no more than 2 levels.
3. No grade jumping is allowed after Blue 2 (Fighter Level 2).
4. At least one Cheif Instructor must be present at the grading examination to authorise the grade jump.
5. If the student has spent the relevant time within the organisation to warrant the grade jump and level.
E.g.
Green (student level 3) = 9 months minimum.
Blue 1 (Fighter level 1) = 12 months minimum.
Blue 2 (Fighter level 2) = 15 months minimum.
NO GRADE JUMPS WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER BLUE 2 (FIGHTER LEVEL 2).
To make it clear this has only ever been done on 5 occasions and all of them have been with us no less than a year and have been more than ready to take on the level they tested for.
Best regards
