Hey Pat ,
I just cut and paste a little bit from that last link for you.

All matches will be judged by 2 side judges and 1 center referee. Points are awarded for strikes
that have good, clean technique, power and accuracy. The side judges will utilize clickers to score
points. For fairness of scoring, judges will be moving around for better viewing of the fighters. There
will be two (2) 1-minute rounds. Most accumulated points will determine the winner after 2 rounds.
Overtime of 30 seconds may be used if there is a draw after 2 rounds. The center referee will be the
only person in the ring that can give penalty, deduct points, or stop the fight.
1 POINT will be awarded for the following Legal Target areas:
• Clean strikes to front, side, or top of headgear (no striking to the unprotected neck
areas)
• Clean strikes to weapon hand or arm
• Clean strikes to empty hand or arm
• Clean strikes to front and side of body, shoulders (no striking to kidney areas or back)
• Clean strikes to thighs, knees and shins
• You have 2 seconds to strike AFTER a player drops his weapon
Penalties, point deductions and disqualifications
Center Referee may give “verbal warning” for the first non-flagrant and non-dangerous
actions, such as running out of the ring or attempted strikes to illegal targets. Other than
these verbal warnings, the following penalties will be imposed.
Three penalties and you’re out!
• Penalties may include, but not limited to the following:
i. Foul or illegal target
ii. Continually running out of the ring
iii. Continued disregard of the referee’s instructions or commands
iv. Repeated disregard for safety (blatant, malicious, dangerous and flagrant actions)
• 1st penalty call = 1 point deduction
• 2nd penalty call = 3 points deduction
• 3rd penalty call = Disqualification
11. Fight Time
Each match will run for 2 rounds (1 minute each round). NO TIME OUTS – No time outs will be
called by the competitor or coach. Center Referee can only stop time. There will be 30 seconds
between each round (this is the only time for competitors to receive coaching instructions). Incase of
draw after 2 rounds, OVERTIME will be utilized by the center referee. Overtime is 30 seconds. The
stop-watch will continue unless center referee stops time for the following reasons.
• Injury of player(s) in the match
• Issuance of warning or deduction of points
• Replacement of broken weapon
12. Legal Targets
• Clean strikes to front, side, or top of headgear (no striking to the unprotected neck areas)
• Clean strikes to weapon hand or arm
• Clean strikes to empty hand or arm
• Clean strikes to front and side of body, shoulders (no striking to kidney areas or back)
• Clean strikes to thighs, knees and shins
• You CAN use open hand jab ONLY if followed by a stick strike, otherwise 1 point penalty will
be imposed (no boxing)
• You have 2 seconds to strike AFTER a player drops his weapon
13. Illegal Targets & Prohibited Moves
• NO Boxing, punching, kicking or kneeing
• NO Grappling or Wrestling
• NO Throwing, takedowns or foots weeps
• NO Thrusting to the neck areas
• NO Groin strikes or Head-butting
• NO Strikes to the back of the neck and head, and back of body
• NO Strikes to ankles and feet
• NO holding of stick or any part of the opponent’s body
• NO Use of foul or inappropriate language
14. Required Sparring Safety Gears
• All Competitors must supply their own safety gears
• WEKAF or LAMECO type headgear only (must be in good condition; will be checked by
center referee)
• Street hockey or La Crosse gloves (wrist, hands and fingers must be covered and padded)
• Street hockey knee pads or cloth/foam pads (must cover knee areas only; not to cover shin
or lower thigh)
• Athletic groin cup and supporter for men/boys
Optional Safety Protections
• WEKAF full body protector or chest protectors will only be allowed for the women’s divisions
(both competitors MUST wear them if agreed)
• Elbow pads to cover ONLY the elbow and not the forearm or upper arm area
• Mouthpiece for all competitors

Not quite the same. The basic WASA rules are:
Three 2 minute rounds
All sparring is continous
1 point will be added to your score for a clean hit if 2 out of the 3 judges raises your colour flag at the same time.
The one with the most points wins.
All tagest are from the toe and up.
No thrusting, but striking, punching ,kicking etc
All strikes must be done with the weapon.
You will be allowed up to 5 penalty points after which you will be disqualified.
Penalty points for pushing, punching, kicking, thrusting, butt striking, and going out of the area.

Fight gear will consist of a WEKAF style head gear, a goin box (chest guard for female fighters. No other protective gears are to be worn.

Just a breif hope it helps

Hey Pat,
my guys are fully aware of WEKAF next year and a possible trip to the PI at xmas, and we will be discussing this a lot more once my treatment has finished. Thanks for the heads up tho. Very Happy

I understand Grant Boath (DP NZ president) is organizing a team to attend
and was going to bring up the Wekaf worlds at the first NZCKEAI meeting.

I have also just been helping Grant on a couple of articles on Wekaf an overview article and a brief description of the rules article,I will let everone know when these are published.

I know Chanelle Carnie (Gordons daughter is training hard out for it, last I heard),I can confidently say there will be a NZ team heading to next years WEKAF tournament.
weither myself or any of my guys are on the team.we will have to wait and see aye Laughing

Hey Pat,
I have tried a search on the web for information on the “World Arnis Sports Alliance”,
And I havn’t been able to come up with much.Is there any link that I could get to ,for more information? Like how long has this been in existence. what are the rules ectect.
From what I can work out, when the PCKEAM was formed, not long after the WASA was formed. The WASA format is what you guys participated in Manila aye?
I was able to find this link, that had some rules
http://fmatalk.com/showthread.php?t=921
I have Just been doing some more staff for the draft copy of NZCKEAI website,I done a little bit for the Wekaf format, but then come to write a little bit about the soft stick format (WASA) and I couldn’t find nothing. So Any info you could pass on to me about the history would be great Pat.
cheers

Wasa was formed in 2005 just before the PCKEAM all of whom attend the WASA events. It was formed by Master Rey Domiguez whoc is a Police Officer and former WEKAF World Champ and winner of numerous Arnis / Eskrima titles.

I beleive Brother Rey is sending me a copy of the rules soon and as soonas I have a full set of the rules I will pop them on here.

There is no web site for them yet but I am sure there will be soon. I am in the process of designing the logo for Brother Rey when I get an idea of how it should look.

Info on the PCKEAM is also limited but I am sure as time goes more infor will become available.
