I'm at work at the mo, so I can't slack off *too* much, and I don't have my copy to hand...
But from what I can remember the San Miguel section is the smallest in the book, only a few pages. Basically it introduces the major masters, outlines a bit of GM Momoy's approach, and has someone (Ramon Rubina I think) demonstrating the short bala-bala form.
The biggest sections in the book are on Kali Ilustrisimo, Lameco eskrima and Balintawak (very nice coverage of most of the major factions, although I don't think Manong Ted Buot is in there).
Modern Arnis and Lightning Scientific are also covered.
In "Masters of the Blade" (aside from embarrasing pics of me...) is a very nice section on the San Miguel approach to knife. Very interesting... |

I think our group is contibuting as well. Our instructor has all kinds of nasty ideas...
Now I have to lose some more weight (and grow some more hair) before we shoot the pictures |

Hi Guys,
I am sitting at my desk with my copy of Warrior Arts of the Philippines, so here goes:
It is 18cm x 25cm
343 pages (plus 20 more Introduction etc)
Pages 1 - 82 feature Balintawak
83 - 208 Kalis Ilustrisimo
209 - 234 Lameco Eskrima
235 - 252 Lightening Scientific Arnis
253 - 328 Modern Arnis
329 - 342 San Miguel Eskrima
It is NOT an instructional manual, rather lots of interviews and articles with the masters and their senior students, however, anyone worth their salt will be able to pick up loads of stuff from the (at least 1000) photographs, most of which are in technique sequences.
The San Miguel, section is by far the smallest, but is still well worth a read. It features:
hisory
profiles of current masters
pictures and a desciption of the Bala-Bala Espada y Daga form, performed by Ramon Rubia.
It is a really good book, essential reading for any FMA enthusiast.
If you are in the UK you can get a copy from (forum member) Peter Lewis.
If you get a copy direct from bakbakan.com you can pay with Paypal (so you can ebay some old rubbish to pay for it - I did )
Hope that's of some help
Jon |

I've read the Warrior Arts (thanks Peter)... very useful for a newbie like me. It's very helpful in the historical aspect of various systems. And of course there are lotsa drills by different systems too. And TONS of photographs!! Almost all pages had photos!
(I was surprised to find out that Ronnie Ricketts, Roland Dantes and Miguel Zubiri *drool* are FMA-ers! They're people I've known since I was young, and never realized they were into FMA! Very interesting information indeed!)
