Doce Pares gives out awards in anniversary
TEN people were given recognition during the 74th founding anniversary of Doce Pares International last Saturday at their headquarters in Sto. Niño Village in Banilad.
On top of the list of awardees are the winners of the Doce Pares World Championships in Orlando, Florida last July.

Teenage world champion Ray Robin Chan, who was also feted by the provincial government, was awarded for his exploits in the world championship, when he topped the sparring and forms events of his weight class.
Jake Morales, another champion, head coach Master Percival Pableo, training director Jose Borces and head of delegation Michael Cañete were also honored.
Gerald Ong Cañete was also recognized for leading the group of Filipino arnisadors in the Arnis World Congress held a day before the competitions, while Andres Cañete was named Instructor of the Year.
Meanwhile, British couple Pat and Lucy O’Malley were handed a certificate of lifetime membership.
“Apart from their exceptional skills, they are also recognized for love, dedication, loyalty and for their immense contribution in the promotion of the Filipino martial art in the United Kingdom,” said Grandmaster Dionisio Cañete.
The O’Malleys run two eskrima schools in London and have once been world champions.
Scottish Shelley Coomb Smith was also recognized for his promotion of the sport in Scotland. Smith has been operating a school in Scotland for three years now.
Meanwhile, Doce Pares also had its induction of their newly elected officers; Engr. Eulogio Cañete (president), Atty. Valentin Suan (vice president), Engr. Michael Cañete (secretary), Master Val Pableo (treasurer).
Also inducted were new members of the Board of Trustees; Dionisio, who is also the chairman of masters and founder of Doce Pares, Master Andres and Gerald Ong, who is the executive director and auditor of Doce Pares. (MCB)
