I saw a thread on the Dog Brothers website about a new series on the History Channel called "Human Weapon". It's another one-art-a-show series, with a challenge at the end. They look at judo, muay thai, savate, karate, krav maga, pankrase, and of course eskrima.

Here's a link

I like the funky cockfighting arena for the challenge at the end.

There's no footage of the fight, but I would presume WEKAF rules, as I don't think the History Channel does Black Eagle rules Shocked

Anyone have an idea when it will be shown over this side of the water? I know GM Diony and Master Val were talking to me on the phone the day the film crew turned up, so I would really love to see that.

No idea of when it screens in the UK. I only know that it's currently screening on the history channel in the states.

We have the history channel here n New Zealand, but it doesn't track with the the american one. I guess it'll show up here eventually ...

I would presume Sky carry that channel in England as they do here?

If we see it first, I'll grab it and send it over.

Local history channel don't know *** about when it'll be shown here, but that might be because its based in Australia.

As the first episode shows on the history channel in the states this weekend, I reckon the eskrima one'll show in 3 weeks or so. It'll be on bittorent within the month...

I guess I have to send some cd's around the place soon...

Just received this e-mail from the DP HQ in Cebu

Quote:
Hi Pat & Nilo,

USA's History Channel will begin showing on July 20, The documentary movie entitled " Human Weapon - Eskrima ". (Trailer is now on at Youtube). This film which was shot on Location in Cebu in April wholly featured our own Doce Pares with GM Diony, Percival and other Masters with very good roles. This is the third documentary movie featuring our group during the Last Three year's, the others being those of BBC and Discovery Channel in early 2004.

You can advise our members about the Last film, which is an implicit recognition of our group's popularity, considering that we are the only Filipino Martial Art group in the movie inspite of our initial suggestion to allow participation of other groups.

Thanks,
Gerald

Hopefully that will help us all track the footage down.

But for now here is the You Tube footage

I just read on the DB forum that there is a scene with GT Leo Gaje wrestling a karabao, dumog style, in a muddy rice paddy.

Apparently the producer made him stop, 'cause he thought GT Gaje was hurting the animal...

Hey Mike ,
I just got this reply from sky TV

Thank you for your email.

Usually any programme that has aired on the American History Channel takes a little longer to screen through the New Zealand feed. This particular programme will either air in New Zealand towards the end of the year or early next year. My only advice would be to keep any eye on your EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) or our website www.skytv.co.nz as any schedules or amendments are updated daily as they come to hand.

Regards
