I don't EVER look forward to gradings with pat and lucy!
Especialy when pat walks off and leaves lucy in charge!
I think when I get my full instructor; I'm gonna go kill something just because I can!

Well done everyone, all 8 candidates passed with extreme tiredness And just when they thought they could give no more, guess what I gave them some more.
And thanks for the cut nose Tom, I will remember that one
I will list all the grading passes later, and yes I am back on line as of today

I had a great time - it was good catching up with the RA gang and learning a whole load of neat tricks from them. Big thanks to Pat as well for spending some time with me on the longstick work :)
The grading was hell, and i've got tigerstripes all up my left side, aches in places i didn't know i had, and a worrying lack of mobility. I've done gradings in other systems before, and whilst the tests can certainly be mentally and physically demanding, Rapid Arnis is the only system so far that has truly made me fight for my grade. As Damien says about fighting, it's not what's in your head, but what's in your heart that will get you out the other side in one piece. For me, this sums up the weekend perfectly.
Cudos to all my fellow RA brothers for achieving their grades - it was an honour to have endured this test alongside you :) |

From a personal side...
I don't think I'm happy about living through it!
That was my hardest struggle to date.
Not because the grading itself was that bad, it was my personal performance.
Trust me,though...
I'm sure the spanish inquisition might have been a little easier at times!
For all the pain and personal embarrassment; I am honoured to be in the ranks with all who have come this far.
WE ARE AWSOME!
I have 2 tests left...
then.....
I kiiiill you!

Firstly, I'd like to say thanks to Pat, Lucy and Nigel for a great weekend of teaching and grading. The grading was an eye-opener and has to be the hardest thing I've been through in my life. I'm proud to have been through it and got to the other side.
Well done to everyone who passed over the weekend, and it was nice to meet up with the Rapid Arnis family as usual. |

Agreed! Thanks to all who showed up, I wouldn't say the grading was enjoyable, but the bath and cuppa when I got home certainly was! :)
The training day was excellent, and it's interesting how many tips and tricks you pick up just going through stuff with different people.
Pat, I have beer for you, just trying to find a suitable thing to ship it to you, as is traditional in such circumstances! |
